WEEK 1
Hi Mike! Thank you again for taking the time to supervise this independent study. My plan is to present work I would like to show each week via this unlisted section of my website. For easy access, just type in rosfiol.com/mike . There, you’ll be brought to an index which allows you to select the week. You can alternatively access each week via the web address rosfiol.com/mike/wX , where X is the number week (for example rosfiol.com/mike/w1 for this first week).
For this first week, I want to present (1): an updated syllabus with my weekly study/assignment via Google Drive link to organize important files for this course, (2): a list of goals and expectations for this course, (3): snippets of character animation that inspire me /presently inform my current aesthetic sensibility, and (4): an early draft of my character animation demo reel. Next week, I want to jump straight into thinking about design strategies that will complement my animation goals.

Strengthen my understanding of character performance / movement through hands-on research
Explore effective design strategies that complement my animation workflow
Do the ugly work now of finding out what does/doesn’t work before getting too deep into thesis
Beef up my reel with strong character animation samples
Establish a faster workflow that doesn’t compromise quality (even if just through drill + practice)
Develop a competitive animation reel I will want to use for job / internship applications

That is what I have for this week! Next week, I’ll start more deliberately meditating on my own drawing/animation style. I plan to present my findings, propsed strategies for future endeavors, and an early working visual thesis of my thesis proposal. Would love some pragmatic design pointers as early in production as possible.
